Making seasonal colour analysis make sense
Your season is a framework for understanding colour, not a set of rules for restricting you. Besides, I am a Gemini — expecting me to blindly follow a rulebook was never going to end well.
—I was determined I could get to the bottom of this.
The Essence of Summer
We are taught that Summer is cool, soft and light.
The words themselves are not wrong. They are simply incomplete. Cool, soft and light describe the technical qualities of Summer colours, but they do not explain why certain shades feel like they belong together.
Instead of defining Summer through technical colour theory, I wanted to translate it into places, weather, textures, architecture, materials and moments that feel unmistakably Summer.

Colour analysis is a method, not a mandate — experiment, observe, adjust.
Summer Palette Lab is a personal exploration of seasonal colour analysis — translating technical concepts into intuitive ideas about colour, mood and harmony. Here I explore how the Summer palette works in real life: from building a wardrobe and adapting trends, to discovering the colours, textures and inspirations that make a palette feel like home.
I am not a professional colour analyst — just a fashion enthusiast who fell down the seasonal colour analysis rabbit hole and spent the next two years figuring out my own season. I am not here to teach traditional colour theory or tell you what you can and cannot wear — plenty of sites do that already. I am here to have fun with fashion, and hopefully provide some inspiration.
If you already know you are a Summer and want to explore what that means beyond colour charts and strict rules, you are in the right place.
Summer Palette Lab is an ongoing exploration of seasonal colour, personal style, and the relationship between the two. Have a question, an idea, or your own colour discoveries to share? I’d love to hear from you.
