Hi, I’m the person behind Summer Palette Lab — recovering skeptic, certified Summer.
I trained as a scientist, which means I approach almost everything — including a Pinterest-famous colour theory — with the same reflex: raised eyebrow first, spreadsheet second. Seasonal colour analysis found me during a fairly ordinary bout of “why do I look tired in every photo,” and what followed was less of a glow-up and more of a controlled experiment, conducted mostly in changing rooms.
I misdiagnosed myself first (Autumn, briefly, on the strength of a chocolate-brown moment and zero actual evidence). I un-diagnosed myself with a pair of shoes. Eventually the data settled: I’m cool, I’m muted, I’m a Summer — and I’ve stopped pretending that conclusion arrived through pure logic. It’s part evidence, part vibe. Both an art and a science, as I now begrudgingly admit at least once per blog post.
Summer Palette Lab is where I document this experiment as it’s still unfolding — the personal story of figuring it out (My Colour Analysis Saga), the practical discoveries I’ve made along the way (Colour Lab), what I’ve learned about dressing a cool-muted palette without it feeling like homework (Style Notes), and how current trends translate when you run them through a Summer filter instead of ignoring them entirely (Trend Reports). No rulebooks, no absolutes — just one former grad student’s lab book on colour, written with as much dry humour as the subject demands.
Thanks for being here!
